This workshop provides an overview of urinary catheterisation, equipping participants with the knowledge and practical considerations required for safe and effective patient care. Attendees will explore the anatomy and physiology of the bladder, alongside patient assessment across the lifespan, including identification of key risk factors.
The session will cover both urethral and suprapubic catheterisation techniques, with guidance on selecting appropriate catheter types and securement methods. Emphasis is placed on developing patient-centred care plans and recognising, preventing, and managing common catheter-related complications.
